Using XFI Console Funds in CrossFi APP
Many users who access XFI Console with their seed phrase want to use their XFI tokens in CrossFi APP but aren't sure how to do this. This guide explains how your seed phrase works and provides two methods to access your XFI tokens in CrossFi APP.
Understanding Seed Phrases
A seed phrase (also called a mnemonic phrase) is a set of 12 or 24 words that serves as a master key to your cryptocurrency wallet. When you create a new wallet in XFI Console, you receive a seed phrase that is compatible with any EVM-compatible wallet, including MetaMask, not just XFI Console.
A seed phrase is essentially a human-readable representation of your wallet's private key. It uses standardized cryptographic algorithms to deterministically generate the same wallet addresses every time, regardless of which compatible application you use to restore it.
CrossFi Chain Address Generation
CrossFi Chain uses a unified seed phrase for deterministic creation (derivation) of both EVM (0x...) and Cosmos (mx1...) addresses. This means that the seed phrase associated with your XFI Console wallet (if you received it when first creating the wallet or connecting) provides access to both addresses.
🔑 Single Seed Phrase
One seed phrase generates both your EVM address (for MetaMask) and Cosmos address (for XFI Console)
🔗 Unified Access
Both addresses are cryptographically linked and derived from the same master key
Two Methods to Access Your Funds
There are two ways to use your XFI tokens from XFI Console in CrossFi APP:
Method 1: Import Seed Phrase to MetaMask
Recommended for users who want unified wallet management
You need to import your seed phrase into MetaMask. After this, MetaMask will be able to manage the EVM address that is also displayed in XFI Console, giving you access to your XFI tokens at the EVM level.
This is not "transferring" the seed phrase from XFI Console, but rather using the same seed phrase that allows both XFI Console and MetaMask to access the same EVM account.
Backup Your Current MetaMask (Optional)
If you already have a MetaMask wallet with funds, make sure to back up your existing seed phrase before proceeding. You can also create a new MetaMask profile/account for CrossFi.
Method 2: Transfer Tokens to Existing MetaMask Wallet
Suitable for users who want to keep separate seed phrases for different purposes
If you use different seed phrases for storing your XFI tokens and managing your MetaMask wallet that you connect to CrossFi APP, you can simply transfer your tokens from XFI Console to your MetaMask wallet address.
Add CrossFi Network to MetaMask
You need to add the CrossFi network to see your XFI token balance. Follow the MetaMask network addition guide using the CrossFi Mainnet parameters.
CrossFi Mainnet Configuration:
- Network Name: CrossFi Mainnet
- RPC URL: https://rpc.mainnet.ms/
- Chain ID: 4158
- Currency Symbol: XFI
- Block Explorer URL: https://xfiscan.com/
Important Network Configuration
For your XFI balance to display correctly in MetaMask, you must add the CrossFi network and switch to it when using CrossFi APP or XFI Console.

support.metamask.ioFrequently Asked Questions
Can I use the same seed phrase in both XFI Console and MetaMask simultaneously?
Yes! The same seed phrase can be safely used in multiple compatible wallets at the same time. Both applications will show the same wallet addresses and balances.
Will I lose access to my funds in XFI Console if I import the seed phrase to MetaMask?
No, importing your seed phrase to MetaMask doesn't remove access from XFI Console. Both applications will continue to work with the same wallet addresses.
Why don't I see my XFI balance in MetaMask after importing?
You need to:
- Add the CrossFi network to MetaMask using the correct parameters
- Switch to the CrossFi network in MetaMask
- Ensure you're viewing the correct account that corresponds to your XFI Console address
Are there any fees for transferring XFI between wallets?
Yes, Method 2 involves an on-chain transaction that requires gas fees (paid in XFI). Method 1 doesn't involve any transaction fees since you're just accessing the same wallet through different interfaces.
Next Steps
Once you have your XFI tokens accessible in MetaMask with the CrossFi network configured:
- Download CrossFi APP for Android or iOS
- Connect your MetaMask wallet to CrossFi APP
- Complete KYC verification if you plan to use CrossFi Cards
- Start using your XFI tokens for payments, card funding, and other CrossFi services
Remember to always keep your seed phrase secure and never share it with anyone. Your seed phrase provides complete access to your wallet funds.
